Family policies
Plain answers to what families ask before a first day outdoors.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
Please keep your child home with a fever, vomiting, diarrhea, a rash you haven't had looked at, or when they're too tired to play outside. They can come back when they've been well for a full day. Call or text us the morning you keep them home.
Drop-off and pickup
A teacher meets each child at the gate at drop-off and hands them back at the gate at pickup. We release a child only to the people on your list, and we ask for ID from anyone we don't know.
Late pickup
If you're running behind, call or text and your child stays with a teacher. If a family is late more than once, Jace talks with you about a plan. The late-pickup terms are in the enrollment forms.
Meals, snacks and allergies
We serve a morning snack and an afternoon snack, and families pack lunch and a water bottle. Tell us about any allergy at the tour; once you enroll, we ask again in private.
What to wear and bring
Dress your child in layers for the season. Every child needs boots, a hat and a full spare set of clothes; bring rain pants in spring and fall, snow pants, mittens and a warm coat in winter, and a sun hat in summer. Each child has a hook, and everything goes home on Fridays.
Closures for weather and holidays
We close for the holidays you'd expect and for a winter break in late December. In severe weather, like an ice storm or deep cold, we text families the evening before or by 6 am the same morning.
Leaving the program
We ask for two weeks' notice, in writing, before a child leaves, so we can offer the place to a family on the waitlist.
