Jace Coates

Director

Jace started Toddle on his family's land so that children could be outside as much as the weather allows. He greets families at the gate and knows every child by name.

Jace grew up on the Leelanau Peninsula and has spent most of his working life outdoors with children, at camps, on farms and now at Toddle. He wants every family to see the yard on a wet morning before they decide.

What he does here

  • Running the center day to day
  • Greeting every family at the gate
  • Deciding how long each group stays out

Training

  • CPR and first aid training

  • Background check

  • Mandated reporter training

How Jace runs the center

Jace is the first person you meet at a tour and the person you call when something changes. He puts tuition in writing for your child's group and schedule, and he walks you through the license and the numbers on the board.

Every morning he looks at the forecast and decides, with the lead teachers, how long each group stays out and when it comes in to warm up.
